At CPCQC, we are dedicated to ensuring that EVERY mother, infant, and family in Colorado has access to safe and high-quality care. We champion new collaborations, strengthen community connections to care, and lead statewide maternal and infant health quality improvement initiatives.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, CPCQC partners with healthcare facilities, state and federal agencies, community organizations, and families across Colorado and with national organizations to advance best practices and improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Position Summary
The Deputy Director of Clinical Quality Improvement (QI) and Education will play a pivotal role in CPCQC’s statewide quality improvement efforts, managing a team of three Clinical QI Advisors and the development, implementation, and success of the organization’s suite of educational offerings. This role ensures alignment and coordination across CPCQC’s hospital-based clinical QI initiatives while driving the continuous professional development of healthcare teams through structured learning opportunities. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Director of Clinical QI and other CPCQC leadership to implement high-impact, data-driven quality improvement strategies and a portfolio of education offerings that enhance maternal and infant health outcomes in Colorado.
This full-time, salaried position operates remotely within Colorado, with quarterly in-person meetings typically in the greater Denver/Boulder Metro area and attendance at forums and conferences hosted by CPCQC or key community, state, regional, or national partners. Employees are expected to establish residency in Colorado within six months of their start date at their own cost. A change in residency status may affect employment eligibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision of Clinical QI Advisors
- Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of three Clinical QI Advisors supporting CPCQC’s statewide QI initiatives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and 1:1 meetings with QI Advisors to support professional growth, accountability, and skill development.
- Serve as a bridge between QI Advisors and the Director of Clinical QI, ensuring clear communication, strategic alignment, and resource allocation.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing among QI Advisors to drive innovation and consistency in QI efforts.
- Support Advisors in troubleshooting challenges faced by participating hospitals and community-based organizations in implementing QI initiatives.
- Elevate hospital-based and system-wide policy issues that QI Advisors are encountering in their programs, and the impact and scale of these issues.
Management of CPCQC’s Education & Training Programs
- Oversee the development, execution, and evaluation of CPCQC’s educational programming for healthcare professionals and statewide partners, including workshops, webinars, conferences, simulation training, and continuing education courses.
- Manage CPCQC’s expanding education portfolio, including signature offerings such as QI 101, Breaking Stigma, and Labor Support Workshops, to ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences.
- Lead the integration of adult learning principles and quality improvement methodologies into CPCQC’s educational offerings to maximize impact.
- Manage continuing medical education (CME) applications and accreditation to ensure CPCQC provides certified learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.
- Stay up-to-date on national and state-level best practices in education and recommend new training approaches.
Strategic Quality Improvement Implementation
- Assume primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of at least one of CPCQC’s four statewide quality improvement initiatives each year, ensuring strategic alignment and demonstrable impact.
- Partner with the Director of Clinical QI and the CPCQC Data Team to assess trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and refine strategies based on data insights.
- Identify emerging challenges and innovations in maternal and infant health QI and proactively adjust CPCQC’s approach accordingly.
Stakeholder Engagement, Dissemination & Thought Leadership
- Cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, professional associations, and healthcare organizations to expand CPCQC’s reach and impact.
- Support the development and potential pilot of a “practicum and scholars” program for MPH, MSN, DNP, and medical students to support projects, initiatives, and research that align with the clinical QI and education portfolio.
- Represent CPCQC at conferences, webinars, and community events to share findings and best practices.
- Work in partnership with the Data & Analytics team to align dissemination strategy and activities related to quality improvement initiatives
- Support CPCQC’s dissemination efforts, including cataloging and reviewing abstracts, posters, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and newsletter contributions, to disseminate lessons learned and outcomes.
Performance and Grant Reporting Support
- Contribute to grant applications and reporting by providing QI-related content, data summaries, and outcome documentation.
- Collaborate with CPCQC leadership and development staff to ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with funder requirements.
- Support the Director of Clinical QI and the QI team in monitoring, evolving, and periodically reporting progress on CPCQC’s key performance indicators across the QI PSB and Education portfolio.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Master’s degree in public health, nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in clinical quality improvement, including hands-on implementation of QI methodologies (IHI Breakthrough Series, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Experience leading and mentoring teams in a healthcare or public health setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing education programs for healthcare professionals.
- Strong data literacy, with the ability to interpret quality improvement metrics and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with comfort in presenting to multi-faceted audiences.

Preferred:
- Certification in Quality Improvement (e.g., IHI Improvement Advisor, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
- Experience working on maternal and child health quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and hospital data systems.
The salary range for this position is $85,000- $95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include unlimited paid time off, paid holidays, employer medical, dental, and vision coverage contributions, and a company 401(k) match.
