Director of Initiatives & Engagement
“I work for CPCQC because strong communities are built on a foundation of healthy beginnings.”
Valerie (Val) Garrison believes that a community’s greatest asset is its members, and that change is most successful when all stakeholders contribute to creative solutions. She applies this philosophy by facilitating collaborative decision-making and action among diverse communities through Community-Based Participatory Research, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and Health Impact Assessment, and other methods. She has worked in the nonprofit public health sector for over 12 years, first in Environmental Public Health, then for the past four in Maternal and Child Health as the Healthy Start Project Director for Healthy Baby Network in Rochester, NY.
Valerie obtained her Masters in Environmental Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. She combines her research-focus education with a love for connecting people and data in leading diverse stakeholder groups toward advancing common goals.
