SOAR Initiative

SOAR is an annual, hospital-based quality improvement initiative to reduce unnecessary primary Cesarean births. SOAR is grounded in the national AIM (Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health) Patient Safety Bundle for Safe Reduction of Primary Cesarean Births. SOAR supports interdisciplinary teams in adopting best practices that promote safe, person-centered labor management, shared decision-making, and respectful maternity care.

Through active engagement in SOAR—one of CPCQC’s quality improvement initiatives—hospitals can meet the quality improvement requirement set by Colorado Senate Bill 24-175.

Turning the Tide

Turning the Tide is Colorado’s statewide perinatal quality improvement initiative focused on improving outcomes for pregnant and postpartum people and their infants affected by perinatal substance use. Based upon an Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Patient Safety Bundle, this annual initiative provides hospital-based teams with evidence-based tools, clinical best practices, and implementation support to enhance substance use screening, brief intervention, and referral to recovery treatment services. Turning the Tide promotes a compassionate, family-centered approach that reduces stigma by framing perinatal substance use disorder as a chronic and treatable medical condition.

Through active engagement in Turning the Tide—one of CPCQC’s quality improvement initiatives—hospitals can meet the quality improvement requirement set by Colorado Senate Bill 24-175.

SPARK Initiative

SPARK—Supporting Postpartum Access, Recovery, and Knowledge—is a hospital-based quality improvement initiative designed to improve care during the transition for birth hospitalization to postpartum discharge. Built on an AIM (Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health) Patient Safety Bundle, SPARK supports hospitals in implementing bundled, evidence-based practices that ensure safer transitions from hospital to home. Through one-on-one coaching, collaborative learning, and data-driven tools, SPARK helps hospitals close gaps in postpartum care, improve continuity, and reduce maternal complications after birth.
