CPCQC Nurse Stigma Bias Training

In 2023, we administered a repeat survey to nurses in our CO AIM: SUD affiliated hospitals asking about how their colleagues’ attitudes and behavior change when working with patients who have substance use disorders or mental health concerns. We found that respondents overwhelmingly report a negative change in attitude towards these patients (64%).

We are partnering with MOMs+ and Hard Beauty to provide live, interactive workshops that educate nursing staff on topics including trauma informed care, stigma and bias, and clinical management of patients with substance use disorders; and trainings will include conversations with lived experience experts sharing their perspective on being pregnant with a substance use disorder.
