About Hospital Quality Improvement Participation

One of the most pressing challenges facing hospitals today is the rising rate of maternal morbidity and mortality—a challenge we cannot ignore. We invite your hospital to join the team at CPCQC in tackling these urgent issues through our upcoming initiatives starting in January 2025.

Between 2016 and 2020, Colorado witnessed 174 maternal deaths, with the two leading causes being suicide and unintentional overdose—both preventable in 90% of cases, according to the Colorado Maternal Mortality Prevention Program. In addition, complications from cesarean deliveries, a known driver of maternal morbidity, have become a growing concern.

These alarming statistics call for decisive leadership and action, and Perinatal Quality Collaboratives (PQCs) like CPCQC are uniquely positioned to help hospitals implement evidence-based interventions that can change these outcomes.

Please email CPCQC’s QI Team for additional questions and assistance: qi@cpcqc.org.

Turning the Tide and SOAR are 1-year long cohort initiatives that will run from January to December 2025. Enrollment is open from October 1st through January 2025. All initiative cohorts will be closed after the mandatory onboarding sessions for teams in January.  Both Turning the Tide and SOAR will have two separate onboarding sessions and hospital teams will only need to attend one session for the programs they would like to join.

A new quality improvement initiative focused on postpartum discharge transition will launch in the Summer of 2025, please stay tuned for more information.

Recent data shows sobering statistics of increased rates of maternal mortality and persisting racial disparities nationwide. This data reminds us that we have so much more work to do to improve equity to access and care for moms, birthing people, and their babies across our country and in our state.
This fall, CPCQC gathered with partners across the state at the CHoSEN Forum. The semi-annual convening brought providers, organizations, and policymakers together to improve perinatal substance use outcomes.
