Common complications during pregnancy and postpartum

Just-in-time resources

Anxiety, Depression, and Suicide:

Perinatal Mental Health Conditions are the number one complication of pregnancy and delivery. Please consider this when caring for anyone during pregnancy and postpartum.

A validated verbal screening tool, such as the PHQ–9 or the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, can help identify the issue and direct care. Colorado PROSPER is a free psychiatric consultation line, and their team can help you treat the patient.

Substance Use:

People in the postpartum period are at a high risk for substance use disorders and overdose deaths. Once your patient is stable, please refer them to ongoing treatment and peer support.
