Read This Important Maternal Mortality Fact Sheet!

The Colorado Children’s Campaign published this fact sheet on strengthening the Maternal Mortality Review Committee. Click here to read it!

“Colorado’s maternal mortality rate has dramatically increased in recent years. Women in rural areas are more likely to die than those in urban areas, and nationally, African American women are more likely to die than white women, even when income and educational level are held constant.

Maternal mortality is defined as death during pregnancy, or up to one year after the pregnancy, regardless of the cause. Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) are the best way to understand rates of maternal mortality and identify interventions to prevent deaths and other adverse maternal outcomes.”
